This commentary addresses Canadian Liberal Against Feminism’s article on why he is pro-choice. CLAF’s take is that women should have 100% of the choice on whether to carry a pregnancy to term, but then they also bear 100% of the responsibility for their choice. This commentary embellishes on CLAF’s views, and explains that in situations where CLAF’s system is not feasible, we will automatically have to default to women having 50% of the choice, 50% of the responsibility with regard to pregnancies being carried to term.

I agree. It’s not something that would be easy to implement.
But I have to point out, that in most cases where a 100%-0% system is completely unworkable due to a lack of women’s ability to provide for themselves, much less an infant, abortion isn’t normally an option. Try getting one in the Sudan, or in Cairo. I can just imagine the scandal… And so, in some of the cases you pointed out you’re absolutely right, it would have to default to a 50-50 arrangement.
It’s a philosophical ideal, and since when is philosophy ever concerned with practicality…
